The Blurb On The Back:

Frankie’s back, and this time it’s personal!

Frankie is a BIG FAT ZOMBIE GOLDFISH with hypnotic powers. When his owner, Tom takes him camping, something fishy starts going on. Could the zombie goldfish finally have met his match?

In story two, Frankie’s been kidnapped! Can Tom rescue his fishy friend before it’s too late?

Two big fat fishy stories that will keep you hooked and make you laugh out loud!

In FRANKIE GOES WILD, Tom, Pradeep and Frankie have gone on a camping holiday in hosted by famed survivalist Grizzly Cook and Sam Savage, the host of Savage Safari. When a strange creature starts terrorising the campers, all signs point to there being a Beast of Burdock Woods but Tom’s certain that his evil scientist brother Mark is up to something. Truth turns out to be stranger than fiction however, and once again only Frankie is able to save the day …

In REVENGE OF THE PARANORMAL PETS, someone is kidnapping pets with paranormal powers and Frankie is next on their list! Tom, Pradeep and Frankie join up with Geeky Girl (real name Glenda) to find out who’s responsible but the culprit is wicked smart and it looks like Frankie has finally met his match …

The third in Mo O’Hara’s ZOMBIE GOLDFISH series is another fun, entertaining read that does a great job of showing the friendship between Tom, Pradeep and Frankie, introduces some potential new characters – notably Geeky Girl who is a lot of fun – and neatly satirises Steve Irwin/Bear Grylls type of adventurer/TV presenter. Out of the two stories, I preferred REVENGE OF THE PARANORMAL PETS to FRANKIE GOES WILD, mainly because I loved the other pets with superpowers – notably Molly the nearly invisible poodle and Toby the teleporting tortoise – and also because Geeky Girl is a welcome female addition to the cast. Once again Mareck Jagucki’s illustrations really add to the text and his sheep line will be a big favourite with fans of SHAUN THE SHEEP and there’s another neat little flip animation in the corner – a detail that makes me grin every time. All in all this is another book that made me grin like an idiot and I look forward to reading the next in the series.

The Verdict:
